Aboriginal art is centered on storytelling and dates back over 60,000 years.  Because there is no written language among Aboriginal people, they use symbols and icons to convey their culture, beliefs, and stories. 
 
The simple dot style art is beautiful to the eyes but also holds very deep hidden meanings and purpose, diguising the true sacredness of each story.  Some paintings are so powerful in meaning, outsiders are strictly forbidden.
 
Dreamtime art describes significant beliefs and origins of Aboriginal culture and is usually not understood by non-indigenous people.  It is the foundation of Aboriginal religion.
